#9 Contest With God

Humans have become so technically evolved that they can now make a living, breathing person.

A summit of scientists believed that because they now had the power to create life, God was no longer needed. So they all decided that someone should go and tell this to God.

One of the scientists volunteered to go. So one day he climbed a mountain and called upon God. “God! a bunch of us have been thinking, and I’ve come to tell you that we really don’t need you anymore. I mean, we’ve been coming up with great theories and ideas, we’ve cloned sheep, and we’re on the verge of cloning humans. So as you can see, we really don’t need you anymore, so you can leave us alone.”

God nods understandingly and says, “I see. Well, no hard feelings. But before you go, let’s have a contest. What do you think?”

The scientist says, “Sure. What kind of contest?”

God replies, “A human-making contest where we make a human being. If you can create a better person than me, I’ll go,”.

The scientist quickly agrees, “Sure! No problem.”

The scientist bends down and picks up a handful of dirt and says, “Okay, I’m ready!”

God shakes his head, “No, no, no…you go get your own dirt.

------------------------------------------

This wasn't exactly a proof for God, but I've always remembered it as a story with a great punch line. I can't be serious all the time about this.

As great as the achievements of science, even to the extent of being able to create life if we ever get to that point, still we are completely within the physical, material world with all it's laws and principles. We can't create something from nothing.

There must be God.

PS: Here's another memorable poster.
